Common Questions
What is PLACEO™?
PLACEO™ is a structured organizational leadership assessment designed to compare a leader’s perception of the organizational environment with the collective experience of the leader’s team across six dimensions of organizational effectiveness.
Who should use PLACEO™?
PLACEO™ is designed for leaders and organizations seeking a clearer understanding of how leadership and the organizational environment are experienced across teams. It can be especially valuable during periods of growth, change, leadership development, or organizational improvement.
How is PLACEO™ different from an employee survey?
Traditional employee surveys typically focus on the employee experience. PLACEO™ examines both the Leader Perspective and the collective Team Perspective across the same six dimensions, allowing organizations to identify where leadership perception and team experience align—and where meaningful gaps may exist.
What does the Leader Perspective measure?
The Leader Perspective captures how the leader perceives the team and organizational environment across the six PLACEO™ dimensions.
What does the Team Perspective measure?
The Team Perspective captures how employees collectively experience leadership and the organizational environment across the same six dimensions.
Are team responses confidential?
Yes, team responses are aggregated and reported collectively to protect individual privacy while providing collective organizational insight.
What is a Leader–Team Perception Gap?
The Leader–Team Perception Gap compares Leader and Team results across the six PLACEO™ dimensions to identify where leadership perception and team experience align and where meaningful differences may exist.
Does a large gap automatically mean leadership is ineffective?
No. A perception gap is descriptive, not a determination of leadership effectiveness. It identifies an area where Leader and Team perspectives differ and may warrant further discussion, exploration, or leadership attention.
What happens after the assessment?
Every PLACEO™ engagement includes an executive results debrief with Carney Leadership Group to interpret findings, explore key areas of alignment and difference, and identify leadership priorities and potential next steps.
Can PLACEO™ be repeated later?
Yes. PLACEO™ can be repeated to examine changes in leadership and team perceptions over time. Repeated assessments can help organizations observe shifts in the six dimensions and evaluate progress following leadership development, organizational change, or improvement initiatives.
